Quest 2: Unleashing the Rain Dragon was launched at Woodlands Regional Library this morning. Quest 2 is a new series of collectible game cards and story launched by the National Library Board (NLB), and written by Felicia Chin, one of NLB’s librarians.
We had a hectic week in making preparations for this launch event. We need to design and produce the display backdrop, characters’ standees, colouring lineart and tailor-made a cloth for the unveiling of the display backdrop. Finding the right material for the cloth is a challenge as well as how the cloth is drape over the display backdrop. You wouldn’t want the display backdrop to collapse when the guest of honour does the unveiling, so safety are one of the considerations. Thanks to Lynn for her dedication to this project and making sure everything turns out well.
The turnout today was great and there’s always something for the dedicated Quest fans. There’s a booth to exchange any old Quest cards that you miss out, and of course there’s a booth for you to get your new Quest cards, as long as you get your loan receipts ready. Kids can also show their artistic skills on the Quest graffiti wall or colouring sheets. The Quest standees were popular too as kids enthusiastically took photos with their favourite Quest characters. There were also display of artworks from the Quest illustration competition!
From the enthusiasm of the kids at the Quest launch, we knew all our efforts are well spend! Well, if you have kids between the age of 7 to 12, its time to encourage them to go to the library!
How do you get immersed in the world of Quest? Simply borrow 4 items and exchange your loan receipt for a pack of collectible cards at any of the public libraries (except library@esplanade) . Collect all 60 collectible cards and complete your adventure! With the collectible cards, you can also challenge your friends to a game of Quest!
There are 60 cards to collect and the story unfolds via story arcs on the back of the cards. However, the 60 cards do not form the whole story. You will have to visit the official Quest site to read the last five chapters of the tale!

Children taking pictures with the Rain Dragon standee. Here’s a secret, we originally wanted to do a huge dragon, around 2 times taller. But the plan was rejected, as that would be way too big for the library. There goes our big dragon, let’s hope we have an opportunity to do one in our future projects.
